Tips to Get You Started:
Make sure you have good books to learn from. Look up phrases you want to learn and practice them daily.
Attend a church with a deaf ministry and sit in that section for worship service. Sign along! Its okay-nobody's really watching to see if you get it all right. Practicing every Sunday will make it familiar to you. We started doing this several years ago, before we even had a real interest in signing and this is where we feel that we did most of our learning.
As they say "practice makes perfect".

More Tips to Help you Sign For Him
Interpreters should wear dark clothes so that their hands can be seen easier.
Don't try to sign every word, leave out little words that aren't necessary.
Practice signing the alphabet and fingerspell your name. You can learn from the link:
